A Week of My Summer in Haiku Porque Me Dio La Gana

annette holguin

May 25th, 2024 – 7:00 pm

Pink desert sunset,

after a long workers’ day

blessed me with its rays

May 26th, 2024 – 5:15 am

My sun slowly woke,

the dog swam in the sinking

home. Aun duermo…

May 26th, 2024 – 11:00 am

Drenched carpets. Mi

casa huele a lodo.

So, falto al work.

May 27th, 2024 – 10:00 pm

No hay agua.

I drive beneath clouded stars

to my loved fig tree.

May 28th, 2024 – 8:00 am

La nostalgic branch

que me cargo de niña,

me dice adiós.

May 29th, 2024 – 4:00 pm

El olor ya se

quito. Agua ya fluye

otra vez. Que hueva…

May 30th, 2024 – 8:00pm

Throwing the trash out,

after a long week alone.

I breathe cleansing wind.

May 31st, 2024 – 2:00 am

The moon dances high.

In indoor cold I remain

awake with my thoughts.
