Ecclesiastes
joshua hernandez
Last night I took to the bottle,
Facets of me drunkenly surfaced.
The misanthropy revealed, emotions in a puddle.
God, did you hear how I tirelessly fussed?
How every inch of my being shrieked?
When will you deliver me from the edge?
Felt like every bit of my soul leaked
Onto your hands, I besought you from the ledge.
I raise a finger up to the air
To search for yours, complete the puzzle…
The panorama below is full of human warfare,
Distill my soul from the lining of the human
Condition, dispel the struggle.
